AS AN INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER, YEMI LOVES FOCUSING ON BIG AND SMALL CHALLENGES. DESIGN IS A FORM OF SPIRITUALITY AND HE'S JUST A TRANSLATOR THROUGH VISUAL POETRY AND EMPATHETIC PROBLEM-SOLVING.
I’m Akinyemi, A multidisciplinary industrial and user interface designer based out of NYC. I find great joy problem-solving while facing big and small challenges. I believe that design transcends mere aesthetic; as it’s akin to a spiritual journey. In my creative process, I consider my self not just a designer but a translator, expressing ideas and solutions through visual poetry and deep empathetic problem-solving.
I was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria but as a Nigerian - American I’m very lucky to have experienced the American and Nigeria world view. Growing up in Nigeria I was surrounded with a lot of Sony and Philips products, I always knew there was something compelling about them and I would find myself taking things apart to fix and understand how things work. I believe this is where I began my journey into design. My focus at the moment Is consumer products but extends to furniture and designing objects that people treasure.
